One mother in particular is speaking out to ABC news about her experience. She recently found out from the FBI that her husband, who she met online, sought her out because she has a six-year-old daughter. The man is a convicted pedophile and molested her little girl.
Experts have a few tips to keep in mind if you want to date online: Use a site that does criminal background checks. Also, create a separate email account that does not have your personal information attached to it. Do not talk about your kids or post pictures of them online. Don't even reveal their genders and ages. If you meet someone in person from the internet, make sure you meet in a public place.
